Kobie Eubanks made his decision around two weeks after his official visit to Alabama in mid-May, one he announced during a ceremony Monday.

A highly-rated shooting guard, Eubanks was sold on the Tide by new coach Avery Johnson, opting to sign with Alabama despite offers from more prominent basketball programs such as Kansas.

"It's a great school, great academics and a great program that is on the rise," Eubanks told AL.com. "I was sold by the vision and passion of coach Avery Johnson."

A Florida native, the 6-foot-5, 215-pound Eubanks is a consensus four-star recruit.

Scout ranks him as the 19th-best shooting guard and 63rd-best overall prospect in this year's recruiting class.

Eubanks, who spent last season at Elev8 Sports Institute in Delray Beach, Florida, decommitted from Baylor in November.

The final five schools Eubanks considered were Alabama, Kansas, Oregon, Texas and Georgia, he said.

"[Johnson] knows what it takes and has a winning mentality, and will not only push me but the whole team to the next level," Eubanks said of Johnson, a longtime NBA player and former NBA Coach of the Year whom Alabama hired in April. "It's good to have a coach who's been through the process and knows what it takes to get to the pros. ... Coach Avery's track record speaks for itself."

Eubanks will immediately compete for playing time at the shooting guard and wing positions vacated by Levi Randolph and Rodney Cooper, respectively.

Johnson has told Eubanks he expects him to "come play right away and make an immediate impact as a freshman and play a major role on the team," Eubanks said.

Eubanks is the fourth member of an Alabama recruiting class that moved up 19 spots to 46th overall in 247Sports's Class Rankings following Eubanks signing with the Tide Monday.

"I feel that I am [an] all-around, complete player now through the hard work I've been putting in," Eubanks said. "More of a Joe Johnson type of playing style."
