COACH OF THE YEAR

Johnny Rice, North Little Rock
Rice has been quoted as saying that “a coach’s worst nightmare is a team underachieving.” He must sleep well. High expectations didn’t faze North Little Rock, in the least, as it has won a three-peat of 7A state championships. (However, North Little Rock vacated the 2014 title because of using an ineligible player.)

FIRST TEAM

Player of the Year
Malik Monk, G, Bentonville, 6-3/170, Jr.
A high school player is definitely a big deal when an entire Southeastern Conference college basketball team shows up to watch him play. Arkansas coach Mike Anderson took the Razorbacks to watch Bentonville play Fayetteville during an early March break in the Arkansas schedule.

Marquise Pointer, G, Jonesboro, 6-0/185, Sr.
